Anna Johnson is a fictional high school senior who progresses through the college application and financial aid process in 2009-2010. Anna’s progress can be monitored by simply viewing the example documents presented on MyCollegeCalendar.org throughout the academic year. Example documents associated with each major college application and financial aid task consistent use Anna’s information (her fictional personal information, selected colleges, college major, extracurricular activities, honors and awards received, and student qualifications).
Presenting Anna’s information on all example documents enables students, parents and educators to follow a typical high school senior through the entire college admission process. Equally important, these documents provide a suggested format from which students can create their own versions; for instance, students may take Anna’s cover letter for mailing paper application materials and modify it for their own use by simply copying the format and listing their own information.
Anna is depicted as a high school senior attending Washington High School in Massachusetts. She has an excellent GPA; shows long-term involvement with extracurricular and volunteer activities; demonstrates leadership in sports, yearbook and key club; has completed “worthwhile” summer activities, and will enroll at Two Rivers College in Ohio with $31,250 in scholarships and grants.
Anna’s progress through the entire college application and financial aid process can be seen from the beginning step of campus visits through the final steps of sending her college enrollment confirmation letter and creating an employment résumé for on-campus jobs.
