What is Your College Path?

A recent USA Today article discussed how students are becoming increasingly interested in degrees related to sustainability. According to the article, environmental awareness, student interest, and the projected growth in the “green” sector has forced colleges to take a look at providing educational programs to meet this demand.

Careers in sustainability are wide and varied. It isn't only for engineers and technology wizzes. Green-collar jobs include work for everyone from geoscientists to solar panel installers. All you need is the required skills and education, which can range anywhere from a certification/technical program to a post-graduate degree.

Green Programs are Growing
In August, Treehugger.com listed the ten best college environmental programs in the U.S. Environmental chemistry, sustainable foods and energy systems, ecological restoration – these are just a few of the many courses and majors now available at colleges throughout the country.

The Best of Both Worlds
So, if you've got your eye on our planet’s future as well as your own employment future, you may want to consider a green studies and a green career. Start with your talents and interests and see if a career in this growing industry fits you. With the right education, you might just find that the perfect job is waiting for you after graduation.
